Preventative Dentistry
Preventative dentistry is a joint effort in which we encourage the patients to participate actively. We educate our patient at every appointment and give general and customised advice suitable for the particular patient at the time. We also recommend regular visits to one of our hygienists to remove plaque and calculus and to review your brushing and flossing technique.
We recommend brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes and flossing daily and also discuss how your diet and other health issues can impact your oral health.
Regular dental visits are encouraged to keep your teeth and mouth healthy, and help to keep tooth decay and gum disease away.

FAQs
We have compiled a list of FAQs regarding our Preventative Dentistry Services
How can I improve my oral hygiene at home?
Brush twice daily for two minutes, floss daily, and maintain a balanced diet. Regular dental visits ensure personalised care for your specific needs.
Why should I see a hygienist regularly?
Hygienists help remove plaque and tartar, which can lead to gum disease, and provide tips on brushing and flossing techniques. At AW Brown Dental Practice, we will advise you on how regular you will need to see the hygienist.
Why is preventative dentistry important?
Preventative dentistry focuses on maintaining oral health and preventing dental issues such as tooth decay and gum disease. By attending regular check-ups and following good oral hygiene practices, you can avoid more serious and costly dental problems in the future.
How often should I visit the dentist for preventative care?
We recommend regular dental visits, typically every six months, depending on your specific needs. These visits allow us to monitor your oral health, provide professional cleaning, and address any potential issues early.
