At AWBDP we offer implants as one of the options of replacing missing teeth:
Single or more teeth implant(s):
Implants are used to replace missing teeth and are the closest duplication of our natural teeth mimicking the root and crown structure of our natural teeth. It greatly improves the quality of life being an independent, fixed structure, unlike a denture, nor do the adjacent teeth have to be destroyed as in bridgework.
Your dentist will examine you to establish if you are suitable for implants, which essentially means whether you have enough bone to support the implants or if you would need bone grafting or sinus lifts.
A dental implant is then surgically placed within a jaw bone in a similar position to the previous root of the missing tooth. Then once the bone has formed and integrated to the implant, which is normally after a period of a few months, the implant is then successfully restored with a fully functioning and aesthetically pleasing crown.
Implant Retained Dentures
These are as the name suggests dentures which are held in place by implants and hence Ideal for taking away the daily worry of it slipping out of place or coming loose. Denture adhesives are no longer needed and gives a patient the extra confidence and comfort while wearing dentures and helps to enjoy and taste the food and speech. This is also a cost effective treatment of replacing missing teeth as the need for the number of implants is reduced. The dentures are bespoke made to suit the shape of your face.
The Treatment
If you are suitable for the implant procedure, following a thorough assessment, a number of implants will be placed into the jaw bone. These will act as anchors for the denture appliance, which will clip onto the screws when being worn. They are still removable and easy to clean, however they will feel more secure and stable when being worn.
