We recommend hygienist visit once every three months, six months, annually, or every 18 months. The frequency of your visits is, of course dependent on your own unique clinical needs and varies from patient to patient.
Air-Polisher
Here at AWDBP we also use Air-Polisher , which makes a visit to the hygienist much more enjoyable.
What is Air-Polisher and how does it work?
Air-Polisher is a professional stain removal system that tackles stubborn stains, which are difficult to remove with normal teeth whitening methods. It works by using a combination of water, compressed air and fine powder particles ,combined in a high-powered jet which gently removes stains from your teeth including hard to reach areas. It removes stains from tobacco, food and drink, leaving your mouth noticeably sparkling and healthy.
Can Air-Polisher be used to treat gum disease?
This is one of the major benefits of Air-polisher. Biofilm is a sticky film of harmful bacteria which builds on the teeth surfaces and gum. The bacteria feeds on the food you eat, especially sugar, which turns biofilm to acid, causing tooth decay and gum disease. It grows everyday and is colourless. The bacterias present are linked to serious diseases like heart disease, Alzeihmer’s, Parkinsons and so on.
The cleaning action removes the sticky sheet of bacteria, thus helping to treat gum disease and keep gums and teeth healthy. Where there are deep pockets around the teeth as a result of gum disease, the special Perioflow nozzle is able to flex and adapt to clean even awkward spaces under the gum line.
What are the main benefits of Air-Polisher?
- Pain-Free: Treatment with Air polisher gives you a pain-free experience, reducing the apprehension often associated with dental visits.
- Sensitive teeth: Air polisher warms up the water and the vibrations are regulated, eliminating any sensitivity you may have experienced in the past during hygienist visit.

- Reaches Deep Pockets:Air Polisher has special tips to penetrate deep into periodontal pockets, eliminating harmful bacteria which has oral and wider health implications.
- Safe for Restorations:Air Polisher is completely safe for veneers, crowns, bridges, and implants.
Can Air Polisher be used on implants:-.
Yes! Air Polisher can be safely used on implant surfaces. The powder used with Air-Polisher is very gentle and has no risk of scratching or scuffing. It is a great way of keeping implants, and the gums supporting them, clean and healthy
Can Air Polisher be used if someone is undergoing orthodontic treatment:-
It is often very difficult to clean and maintain oral hygiene when undergoing orthodontic treatment. Fixed orthodontic appliances use brackets and bands which leads to collection of plaque very easily. As a result, poor cleaning leads to a higher risk of caries. The innovative spray technology can access all those hard to reach areas.
Air Polisher is very effective for orthodontic cleaning as it can reach into all those nooks and hard reach areas around delicate appliances, removing any staining and plaque build up and thus reducing the risk of tooth decay during orthodontic treatment.
